MIMS, RUTH H
Ruth H. Mims, known as “Meme” to all who adored her, was united with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 22, 2016, with her family by her side. Meme was born in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, but was destined for the “city life”; in the 1950s she followed her dream to the community of Linthicum Heights, MD.
Meme lived a faith based life, as a member of Linthicum Methodist Church for nearly 50 years. She was a member of the Linthicum Women’s Club, Baltimore Opera Club, and Sorority Mother for the Omega Phi Omega Sisterhood, and a troop organizer for many years with the Girl Scouts of America. She served by volunteering her time to advocate in support of environmental issues and the political process. She was unwavering in her concerns and opinions. Her passions included adventurous world travels, photography, rescuing animals, gardening, fashion and most importantly, her family.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who is survived by her devoted daughter, Lynn, granddaughters, Melissa, Celeste (husband Scott), grandsons Brandon and Chad, around a dozen great grandchildren, and lifelong friend, James H. Mims. Preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki, and granddaughter, Cynthia.
Eternally sixteen, Meme was a charming, natural beauty, both inside and out.
She was a breath of fresh air to all that loved her; she will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered for her vivacious personality and effervescent smile.
A celebration of life and private ceremony will be held by the family.
