MITROCSAK, ROBERT M.
On Friday, February 17, 2023 our beloved brother Robert Mitrocsak passed away in Baltimore, MD. He is survived by the love of his life, Chong Suk; his devoted children Nandor (Nicole) Mitrocsak, Julia (Jordan) Moore, Nicholas Mitrocsak, James Mitrocsak; grandchildren Jackson Moore, Jacy Moore, Logan Mitrocsak; brother Bill (Linda) Mitrocsak, sisters Nancy Mitrocsak and Janet Mitrocsak; predeceased by his loving parents, William and June Mitrocsak.
Bob was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ. He graduated from Cherry Hill West class of 1971. Following High School he earned a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University.
After college he joined the US Army Corp of Engineers and received his Masters degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A & M. He and the family lived throughout the world and also served several tours of duty in Bosnia and Iraq.
After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army 12 years ago, he worked at our nations capital in D.C. as the Jurisdiction Executive for Capital Power Plant and Security programs. He also mentored students from the local D.C. public schools interested in Civil Engineering careers. Mentoring was something Bob did throughout his professional career.
Three years ago, Bob finally retired. He and Chong Suk volunteered their time each week making and serving food for the homeless population of Baltimore.
Bob loved everything Philadelphia from the sports teams to the food, the people and his beloved String Bands! In High School and College, Bob played violin with the Trilby String band, something he and his father shared together. Later in life he joined the Ferko String Band as a volunteer moving the set pieces up Broad Street on New Years Day.
Bob, you were truly an original. You were known for your intellect, your warm heart, your passion and devotion to family and god. Saying goodbye is so hard, especially when it is so unexpected. You will live on in our hearts.
