Rebecca Shifflett Obituary

Rebecca Lynn Shifflett, of Mt. Airy, a beloved daughter, sister, fiancée, and friend, passed away too soon, leaving an aching void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born into a family that cherished her from the very beginning, Rebecca was not just a part of their lives; she was their light, illuminating even the darkest days with her warmth and compassion.

Her love for animals was a testament to her gentle spirit, as she dedicated herself to caring for them with unwavering devotion. Rebecca’s empathy extended far beyond her furry companions; she was always there to lend a helping hand or offer comforting words to those struggling. Her kindness knew no bounds.

Family was everything to Rebecca. She poured her heart into nurturing her relationships, creating joyful memories that now linger as bittersweet reminders of her love. She is survived by her heartbroken mother, Betty Jo Shifflett (nee Bobac); her devoted sister, Rachael Shifflett; her cherished aunt, Alice Nathewitch (husband “Bob” Nathewitch); her beloved nieces, Grace Gardner and Kayla Genco; her nephews, Michael Shifflett II, James Gardner III, and Isaiah Brune; and her fiancé, George Ruehl, along with their families, who have lost not just a beloved person but a true friend and confidant. She was predeceased by her father, Michael D. Shifflett, leaving a profound emptiness that will never be filled.

An avid boater, Rebecca found solace and joy on the water. Those sunlit days spent sailing with George and his family and quiet moments reflecting on the waves now echo with the pain of her absence. Her love for the water was a reminder of the peace she once found there.

Rebecca was not just George's today; she was his tomorrow and his future. Their love story was one of profound connection, built on mutual respect, laughter, and an unwavering bond that has now been shattered, leaving behind a heartbroken fiancé and family grappling with her passing.
