Michelle Anne Ferguson (nee Puckett, born 12/04/1954) died on Wednesday, July 16th 2014, after battling through Stage IV Peritoneal Cancer. Michelle was a beloved mother, sister, teacher, and friend to those who survive her. True to her wishes, she passed in her own home surrounded by the love of her family.
Michelle was raised in Laurel, Maryland by her mother, Eliane (dec), and her father, Walter (dec), along with her seven siblings; Louisette (dec), Allan, Daniel, Jean, Denise, Jacqueline, and Yvonne. Michelle graduated from Laurel High School and later went on to earn her BS in Elementary Education from UMCP and her Master’s in Special Education from St. Francis University.
Michelle was a single working-mother to her three children; Renee, Nathan, and Sharlene. She was dauntless in her dedication to her children, and there was no mountain too high nor river too deep when it came to providing for her family. Michelle always stood firm and strong and faced any number of life’s many obstacles with enviable grace. As a passionate special education teacher at Beltsville Middle School, Michelle was a known advocate for the needs of all children. As someone who highly valued the power of education, Michelle was exceptionally proud to see all three of her children complete their college educations. Michelle had a strength of will and marked determination that was only matched by her boundless empathy and love for those in her care. All who were touched by her caring spirit will miss her deeply.
