Henry Mayer

MAYER, HENRY M.

Henry M. Mayer was born in Rochester, New York on May 2, 1924 to Francis Mayer and Catharine Keller. Mr. Mayer was 1 of 7 children, and of the seven children, only 1 is surviving. Mr. Mayer served honorably in the United States Army from 1943-1946.  Mr. Mayer graduated from Union College with a Bachelor’s of Science.  He worked for Honeywell from 1951-1983. Mr. Mayer has lived in Rochester, New York; Syracuse, New York; Bowie, MD; Ocean Pines, MD; and Odenton, MD. In 1945, Mr. Mayer married Ruth (nee Westphal). Mr. Mayer is survived by his 5 children: Robert (Ellen), of Bowie; Mary of New Haven; Margaret (Tony) Kayser of Odenton; Ruth (Milt) Palmer of Odenton; Elizabeth of Columbia; 8 Grandchildren: David, Johanna, Andrew, Chris, Sarah, Kathy, Cara, Scott; and 9 great grandchildren: Zoe, Ivy, Emmeline, Hudson, Taylor, Thomas, Daniel, Aveleen, Brendan. Mr. Mayer enjoyed designing and building, puzzles, square dancing and genealogy. A remembrance service will be held on April 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at to St. Joseph Catholic Church of the Greater Odenton Catholic Community 1283 Odenton Rd., Odenton, MD 21113 (410) 674-9238. Military honors will held at the church service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
