Aleyamma Mathews Obituary

ALEYAMMA MATHEWS

AUGUST 07, 1925- AUGUST 15, 2020 (age 95)

MARYLAND

Mrs Aleyamma Mathews, daughter of the Lt. Sosamma & P.E.Chummar of Plamoottil, was born in Mepral, Thiruvalla. After her graduation, she was married to a young vibrant and talented minister the Rev. K M Mathews who was serving God in Tamil Nadu region. Their union was blessed with two daughters. Rev. Mathews passed away after about 22 years of married life, leaving her a widow at the age of 45.

Though the road she had to travel as a young widow was rocky and hard, Mrs. Mathews single handedly continued the work her beloved husband left her which was to take care of two daughters simultaneously caring for the well established gospel work. The members of the congregation she led, loved her, adored her and compelled her to continue leading them as their minister. Inspired by their love for her and their devotion she continued the ministry among them for 9 more years until she found a suitable person who could carry on the lord's work.

She returned to her home town of Thiruvalla where the lord provided her a home which became a haven for her siblings, nephews and nieces all of whom fondly called her ‘Mumma’. She was an active member of the local congregation there earning the love and respect of all who interacted with her. Many servants of God visited her home frequently and all were helped according to their needs.

In 2000, Mrs. Mathews migrated to the U.S with her younger daughter and her family. Through her relentless prayers and supplications God blessed them to reach a well settled life. She also got her two grand daughters married to God loving children as she wished. Mrs. Mathews' older daughter and her husband who were already well established in the U.S guided them throughout the early years in Baltimore, Maryland.

As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many including her local church members in Maryland. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Her unsacrificial, caring and loving life will be cherished in the lives of her children, grand children and great grand children: Accamma/Remani (Koshy/Jolly), Renuka (Kyle), Téa, Lexi; Valsamma, Anusha (Annub), Sneha, baby Mathew; Asha (Sam) and Adora.
Mrs. Mathews is survived by two of her siblings, a brother-in-law and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Her Fragrant life will be cherished in the lives of all who had a privilege of meeting her.
